Thailand - Bangkok etc 1

Photo Gallery of Bangkok etc in Thailand.
View of the Chao Phraya river
Bangkok is the capital of Thailand and a bustling city mixed with various ancient temples, floating market and a lot of modern buildings.
In 1782, after the King Taksin of Thonburi passing away, the King Rama I moved the capital to Bangkok, and established the Chakri Dynasty.

Bangkok is called by the Thais " Krung Thep " (means " City of Angels ").
The ceremonial name is unbelievably long:
"Krung Thep Maha Nakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahinthara Ayuttaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udom .... " and still goes on.. :D

[Bangkok etc] Ferry boat

Very convenient boat on the river, Menam Chao Phraya, running through in Bangkok.
It's called " Reua kaam faak " in Thai and it is to and from between the two side of Bangkok and Thonburi. It works for people as an important means of transportation.

The fare is 2 Baht. (Sorry if it's not. :D )

[Bangkok etc] Sky Train

Subway newly opened around summer in 2004 but " Sky Train " (BTS) is also still new; it opened 5th in December, on the birthday of the King of Thailand, in 1999.
(BTS: Bangkok Transit System)

When it opened, every time when Sky Train can be seen, my family told me like, " Hey, that's it, that's it !" :D

[Bangkok etc] Tuk-Tuk and Taxi

Talking about Thailand, you might think of " Tuk-tuk ", the cool, zippy and convenient vehicle in Thailand. If you go not so far, it costs around 30 to 50 Baht.
Taxies are, well, taxies. :D (It starts from 35 Baht.)
