Thailand - Rayong
Photo Gallery of Rayong.
Rayong is a popular and relaxing resort even among Thai people with the
beautiful ocean, located about 180 km south-east of Bangkok.Looks like this place is for people who want to enjoy his/her slow life.
Except for the wonderful ocean, you can enjoy WAT Loom Mahachai Choompol where enshrines the King Taksin, Wat Ban Don Museum in which you can see the Thai traditional shadow play, a market along the street with various harvest of the sea, and so on.
From the explanation board in front of the museum
- A set of about 200 figures of Nang Yai shadow play was purchased from the South by the first governor of Rayong province. They were taken to Rayong on board a ship and performed on various occasions, especially at Wat Chantha Udom (Wat Keng) where Rayong Hospital is now located. The figures have been stored here at Wat Ban Don for more than 100 years. -

[Rayong] Wat Pa Pradu |
|||
| Wat Pa Pradu is said to have been built in Ayutthaya period. In 1829, a monk named
Preceptor Tien found this temple abandoned and became a royal temple in 1990. A large reclining Buddha image is enshrined in this temple. It's 3.6 meters high and 11.95 metres long. The image has a special feature; it lies on its left (on its right from your view) although most reclining Buddha images such as in " Wat Pho " (Bangkok) and in " Wat Yai Chai Mongkol " (Ayuttaya) lie on its right (on its left from your view). (Why is it different ? :D ) |
