Thailand - Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006


The picture is the Royal Pavilion, the center of this expo.
The year 2006 marks the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty's Accession to the Throne, making him the present world's longest-reigning Monarch, and his 80th birthday, also.
It's a wonderful and memorable year for people in Thailand.

Various and wonderful events to celebrate the anniversary were held as you can see in the page of Thailand - Rama 9 The Sixtieth Anniversary, and although it was already finished but the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006 in this page was held also as one of the celebrations.

It's an extensive place and even if you have a map, you don't know where you are now.
According to the map, the area is about 80 hectares.

[Royal Flora Expo] Royal Pavilion

The Royal Pavilion is designed by Rung Jantabun, in an exquisite traditional Lanna Thai style (arranged in a modern style).
More than 60 special carpenters for Lanna architecture joined this construction from Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phrae and Nan.

  • The first floor:
    (An Agricultural King - The Brilliance that Benefits the People)
    The great achievements of the King who is very famous for agricultural research all over the world are shown. (the King's agricultural theories and projects)

  • The second floor:
    The second floor features murals by the the leading artist of Thai art, Preecha Thaothong. He also designed the symbol of the Royal Pavilion, "The Royal Virtue Tree".

The Royal Virtue Tree
It has nine lotus buds overlapped;
  • The first layer (the bottom): Symbolizes the term when the King first began initiating his royal projects.
  • The second layer: Shows The royal projects was proceeded and Thai people were getting fulfilled with happiness.
  • The third layer (The top): Expresses Thailand is flourishing with the King's accession to the throne to his 60th anniversary this past June.
  • The number of the leaves of the Royal Virtue Tree is 21,915, and this stands for days from the accession.
    Each leaves has a teaching from the King to people of Thailand.
