Chiangmai is the largest city in Northern Thailand, about one hour from Bangkok by airplane. This page shows Doi And Khang of Chiangmai.

Doi Ang Khang is located about 150 kilometers north of Chiang Mai, three-hour drive from the center of Chiang Mai.
The highest peak is 1,300m. Doi Angkhang is referred to as the 'Little Switzerland' of Thailand with cool temperatures all year round.
(Hmm? It seems like Chiang Rai is also called Switzerland in Thailand ... )

The Royal Ang Khang Research Station is also located on Doi Ang Khang Mountain.
It is the first research station of the Royal Project set up in 1969 as a demonstration site for planting and researching flowering plants, temperate fruit trees, vegetables and other crops under the patronage of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

In the first place, the project makes an effort to develop a wider variety of marketable products for the local hill tribes who were dependent on growing illegal opium. The organic methods by the Project are very successful. Non-tropical fruits and vegetables such as strawberries, raspberries, peaches, apples, plums, beans and asparagus, have all done well. The Station has recently become a very popular destination for the visitors who travel around this area.

If you are planning to visit Doi Ang Khang Chiang Mai, don't forget to carry some warm clothes, as it might get cold during the night. (Another high place, Doi Inthanon, was also very cold. :D )

Royal Agricultural station Angkhang The Royal Agricultural Station Angkhang is situated in Doi Ang Khang where the highest peak is 1300 meters above sea level, started by King Bhumibol to research temperate climate fruit and to encourage the local hilltribe people to cultivate crops like fruits and flowers instead of opium. Originally, the station started to grow temperate fruit trees, however, visitors complained that there was nothing to see because the leaves were gone in winter. Since then, they have had "Garden 80", Scented Garden, Rhododendron & Azalea Garden, Rose Garden, Bonsai Garden, and many more. The pictures in this page are only some taken around the entrance. We didn't have enough time to go around. So sad !

The scenery of the dawn of Doi And Khang. The sky is fantastic. Now, welcome to Doi Ang Khang's view point, called KORB DOANG. It's the top of the mountain, about 150km north of Chiang Mai, three-hour drive from the center of Chiang Mai. A lot of people get up very early and go and see the sunrise. (Looks like this view point is very popular to see the sunrise.) It's very cold here around the time of the dawn. Don't forget to wear more clothes. ^-^)
