[Bangkok etc 3] Wat Rai Khing |
|||
Wat Rai Khing is located in Nakhon Pathom, about one hour drive from Bangkok. Japanese people or even tourists don't know well but it looks like this temple is very famous for Thai people. By the way, a kind of cat fish, called " Plaa Sawai", live in the moat around the temple. You can enjoy feeding them. Not only this temple but Thai people traditionally conserve creatures around temples. |

To the main hall (Two (maybe) lions on the both sides of the entrance protect this temple. They look like "Shiiser "of Okinawa in Japan.) |
Principal image (The Buddha statue is very beautiful, and the pictures painted on the wall are also fantastic.) |
Pictures on the wall (Beautifully painted. From an old tale ?) |
Entrance door (Exquisitely decorated.) |
Gods for each day of the week (They have gods for each day of the week. What day of the week of your birthday ? :) ) |
Offering (They are make a money offering. A lot of small pots for the offering. Let's go with coins. :D ) |
Monks and offering (Square boxes on the right, called " Kruang Sang Katan", which have daily wants inside such as something to drink, rice, yellow handkerchief and clothes. People buy and offer it to the monks.) |
Various style of gods (Including the each day god, eleven style gods. They say you can pray to one god and it's okay to pray to all gods.) (A lot of temples such as Wat Pa Pradu in Rayong have this kind of gods.) |
Wat Benchamabophit (The Marble Temple) |
|||
Wat Benchamabophit Dusitvanaram Ratchaworawihan or simply Wat Benchamabophit was build in the reign of Rama V in 1899, and is well-known as Marble Temple, made of white Carrara marble from Italy. It's located in Dusit District of Bangkok, close to the old parliament building (Ananta Samakom Throne Hall) or the Chitralada Villa (part of Dusit Palace , the official residence of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej). The main Buddha statue is a replica of Pra Buddha Chinarat in Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat Phitsanulok that is said to be the most beautiful Buddha statue in Thailand, but I didn't enter inside. Too sad ! :D By the way, the picture above shows the scenery of an early morning in Bangkok on the way to the Marble Temple. A lot of people were already ready to work. Take care. :) |

Inside 2 (Looks like a school inside the area.) |
Brook 1 (There is a brook in the site. Very peaceful and relaxing. :) ) |
Brook 2 (A reddish bridge like in a traditional Japanese style.) |
Residence of monks (Residence of monks in the area. This is the first time to see how they live. I saw they had a TV in their room. :D ) |
Tambun 1 (Some visitors are giving some food as an offering to a monk. This is called " tambun " to accumulate virtues.) |
Tambun 2 (Some people sell fish outside the temple. People buy this and let them free to do tambun (accumulate virtues).) |
Tambun 3 (A kid is letting fish go. Hope he will be lucky. :) ) |
