Thailand - Hua Hin

Photo Gallery of Hua Hin in Thailand.

HuaHin: Scenery of the beach.
Hua Hin is a famous and calm beach resort town in Thailand, about 200 km south of Bangkok, about three hours by car from Bangkok, in the northern part of the Malay Peninsula, on the west coast of the Gulf of Thailand.

Hua Hin was a peaceful fishing village, however, after King Rama VII built a palace, Kraikangwon Palace (means "far from worries", in 1926, it became a popular retreat for Thai royal family and as a result, became popular among high society of Bangkok and tourists from overseas.

When I visited Hua Hin in 2004, I felt like it was only a place for just relaxing, however when I visited again in August, 2011, it looks like something was changing.

Basically, you can spend relaxing and peaceful time along the beach, but what's more, you can enjoy "Hua Hin station" that is one of the oldest stations in Thailand, "Wat Khow Takiab" that is the white temple on a hill, "Wat Huay Mongkol" where you can see a big monk statue, "floating market" that you'll feel, wow, not only in Bangkok !, the old-fashioned village "Plearn Wan" and so on.

Not crowded, very calm. You can relax here.
Hua Hin beach is very suitable for those who want to do nothing but just relax.

By the way, it was in August when we visited Hua Hin in 2011. The weather was not so good, almost cloudy and rainy, blue sky was seen only sometimes . :( It was in rainy season...

[Hua Hin] Wat Khow Takiab - Chopstick Hill Temple

Wat Khow Takiab in Hua Hin, south of Thailand.
Wat Khow Takiab (Wat Khow Takiab / Wat Khao Takiab) is in Hua Hin, south of Thailand.
The name "Khow Takiab" means, "Khow" is "hill", "Takiab" means "chopstick". That is, "Chopstick Hill".

It has a long stairways to the temple (better than Doi Suthep in Chiang Mai, though :D). Walk up hard the lots of steps and when you reach the top, your efforts will be rewarded with a great view of the ocean of Hua Hin.
By the way, this place has a log of monkeys like Phetchaburi. Be careful if they get closer to you. (Aug. 2011)

This place was originally called "Huay Kot", then the King Rama IX the name to "Huay Mongkol".
In 1994, the huge image of the renowned Buddhist monk "Luang Phor Tuad" was built as you can see in the picture.
It's said that it took ten years to build the statue. It stands to a total of 11.5 meters high from the base and is 9.9 meters wide. (Aug. in 2011)

[Hua Hin] Floating Market

HUA HIN Sam Phan Nam Floating Market
If I heard "floating market", I think of the market, "Damnoen, the morning market" in Ratchaburi, "Ampawa floating market" in Samut SongKhram, and Pattaya Floating Market, called "Talad Nam Si Pak", and here in Hua Hin, they also have it.

It looks still new, and the market called "Sam Phan Nam Floating Market".
This market is specially for tourists, not for locals for their daily lives, but you can enjoy shopping and seeing around the market.
(Aug in 2011)
